Blog mirror?

If our social media timelines reflect ourselves, presenting only views that we agree with and hiding us from dissenters, do blogs do the same? Are the people that I read, and that read me, all the same? Are we just mirroring each other?

Here's a fatuous quiz to prove nothing.

  1. Interesting! Some I genuinely has to toss a coin for: bitter or lager being a prime example, whereas others I genuinely couldn't give a toss about; android or apple, the two guises of REM, whilst there are some I most emphatically agree with (SCD over anything Cowell related, and Claudia FTW) and some I totally disagree with, such as HIGNFY over Mock The Week. HIGNFY is too much of an out of touch old boys club now to appeal to me.

    1. Interesting, isn't it, when forced to answer a question when you are either ambivalent or believe all the options to be wrong... And I get you about HIGNFY. I think MTW has become a bit of a boy's club too. Both can be redeemed by individual performances, I think, and I have a soft spot for Paul Merton (mainly because of Just A Minute though, not HIGNFY). Anyway, thanks for taking part. The results of this highly scientific and in no way fatuous survey are in - we're 50% alike!

  2. Entered for fun. I don't know what the initials in Q7 mean, have never seen a Rocky film and don't know who the people in Q18 are, so feel free to ignore those answers as they were a literal toss of the coin!

    1. Thanks for completing the survey. BGT and SCD are UK TV shows, Britain's Got Talent and Strictly Come Dancing respectively.

Am thinking (hoping) that, with enough respondents, the coin-toss responses will even out...

    2. Oh, and Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield both played Spiderman on the big screen.

    3. Ah, thanks. Have heard of but never watched either TV show, nor seen the spiderman movies so that explains my ignorance. Cannot remember how I voted but it would now be SCD (an anti Simon Cowell vote) and Tobey Maguire (because I like how he spells Tobey!).

    4. Perfect reasoning in my book!

  3. Well I already know we differ on Starksy and Hutch so I don't hold out much hope for this one! (Especially as I've never watched a Rocky film, don't even know who Andrew Garfield and Toby Maguire are, don't do football or rugby... and more.
Now, what if I were to ask you some questions that I'm more au fait with? (pink or blue? / Range Rover or Mini? / Monet or Magritte / bread or toast? I wonder how it would turn out...?!)

    1. Forgot to put my name but did it just now (impressed by the technology, btw!). And not a bad 'score'!

    2. Blue, Mini, Magritte, bread... How do I score?

    3. Very well! It's only on toast that we differ ;-)

    4. Ah, well, toast/bread is a toughie. Perfect toast is, I think, superior to perfect bread. But average bread is better than average toast. I feel a bread-toast graph coming on....

    5. Aha, I take your point and have to concede. I'd neglected to take into account the glory of fresh home-made bread still warm from the oven...mmm
As for the bread-toast perfection paradox, isn't that an episode from the Big Bang Theory? (Friends or Big Bang Theory? Why, BBT, of course!)

    6. And I meant to add how brilliant that graph is and the very fact you even thought of doing it. Made me smile.

    7. Well, I do like a graph.

  4. My problems are thus...

I cannot answer Qs 2 or 15 since I have no interest in either particpant. Same goes for #7, which I only understood on reading the comments.

How do I proceed if there's no N/A option?

    1. The rules of the game are, you have to pick one, even if it's by tossing a coin or picking the one you least detest...

  5. OK, I did it. But I feel a bit grubby now.

    Pepsi is pure sugar. UGH.

Coffee any day (and every day). Black, nowt fancy.

I'm sorry about REM, but I prefer tunes.

Not interested in rugby at all, but at least it's not evil.

Mr. T vs. Dolph? No contest.

    Can we still be friends?

    1. I should have said, Diet Coke or Pepsi Max - still garbage for the body, but sugar free at least.

And in blog terms, think we are old friends :)
