Every home should have one V

In which I continue to remember, or am reminded of, albums that I missed from these. Mopping up some obvious essentials, with a bunch of compilations and some career highs:

  1. This could run and run! Are you waking up in the middle of the night suddenly thinking of the ones you've missed?! (I frequently do about all sorts of things, a notepad by the bed is essential).
I've just thought of one that I can't find in your previous posts but which I'd have to include - perhaps more because it would be part of the essential soundtrack to my life - how about Joy Division 'Unknown Pleasures'?

    1. Yes, I pretty much am doing that, except that rather than waking up in the middle of the night it's more a case of albums that come to me in the dark hour between going to bed and going to sleep.

I reckon the EHSHO summary has room for two more albums, so JD could make it.

    2. Actually, yes, I'm the same as you - it's more that downtime period before sleep fully kicks in when my mind suddenly goes off on its own and comes up with stuff. Sometimes it's inspiring and good. But recently I was stressing about a job and I could not stop myself writing mental emails (as in mental psychological, not mental mad, although they might have been as well) in my head. Over and over I went with the wording, over and over, unable to muster up the wakefulness to do anything about them but my mind was out of control and wouldn't stop. Horrible!

    3. And that's where the notepad has to come in, I guess. Get what's in your head down on paper and park it, so you can sleep. Easier said than done, I know.

  2. Can't argue with any of those... although I have to confess ignorance about the Vapors album because all I know them for is Turning Japanese. Further investigation required. Good to see Bruce finally get his turn. How are we doing for Motown? Can't remember now. Supremes?

    1. I love the Vapors album (more about that here), though I appreciate I'm probably in a minority of one when it comes to including it on an EHSHO list.

Motown woefully under-represented (full list so far is here). Suggestions welcome.

    2. Has to be a Supremes Greatest Hits and a Four Tops one... probably a Temptations one too, although arguably that's less essential.

    3. Watch for part VI then, coming soon...
