Blogger's Lament (or, proof that it's a good job I don't often write poems)

I don't know why I write this blog,
I'm really at a loss.
The hit count's low, the comments few;
The Web don't give a toss.

A guest post here, a retweet there,
But not much to delight in.
Maybe I should bin the lot
And do some proper writing.

  1. No to binning the lot. Yes to some proper writing as well.

  2. Hi Martin, oh, the timing - I'm new to your pages - but I'd really like to see more! I'd like to add you to my blogroll and reading list, so if you do keep going with the blog (hopefully!) I can indeed delight in it.

    1. Thanks. I will carry on, I'm pretty sure of that. Blogging is like an unscratchable itch, and I quite like being able to shout, even if (next to) no-one is listening. This post is really more about how I need to use my writing time more wisely - have got some fiction that needs writing!

  3. Martin, I sympathize. (Your poem is spot-on!) I started blogging in 2010, and it's been one long moan about the lack of comments (usually aimed at the marauding masses who download, though.)

    I, too, have just discovered your blog via a link in Charity Chic's blogroll and will check back to see if you've decided to carry on or not.
