About (love)cats

If you search YouTube for covers of Lovecats, well, you'll find a shedload. There are some good ones, some bad ones, some interesting ones. Indie pop, rock, ukulele, string quartet, a capella ... anything and everything you could hope for. But none are as good as the original, not even this one, and you know why? It's the voice and the delivery. Any other vocal interpretation of this song just leaves you thinking, "That's not as good as Robert Smith."

So here's Robert and his merry band, just because.

And also just because, here's a love(ly) cat, last week.

  1. Both lovely!
I was only extollling the virtues of Robert Smith yesterday, having watched a couple of old interviews recently; I just love the way he comes across, he seems so unaffected by his fame. And Love Cats always sounds good, makes me smile and sing along but, yes, it has to be the original.
Gorgeous pic of your furry friend.

    1. Thank you, C. I was thinking of doing a new blog series, "Uncoverable", about songs that you can't hope to do a worthwhile cover of because the original is so special. This, it's just untouchable. But I'm too tired to do a lot of blog writing, so it's all little posts, two paragraphs and a YouTube embed. As for Mr Smith, yes, he seems to have his head around his fame very well indeed.
