Not (just) another throwback... about a timeless look

Sharon Tate died 49 years ago today, murdered by members of Charles Manson's family. She was 26.

The thing that stops this being just another throwback Thursday post, keeping the blog ticking over, is the observation that, by the tail-end of the 60s, Sharon had adopted a look that was very 2018. Here are some pictures which, in my inexpert view, look like they could have been taken yesterday. What do you think?

You see, by contrast, this was number one in the UK on 9th August 1969. The song stands up well... the look, not so much. Being timeless is hard.

By the way, normal blogging service will be resumed very soon, i.e. no more "about" posts, Wordless Wednesdays or Throwback Thursdays. Probably.

  1. I do know what you mean. The thicker pencilled eyebrows, dark eyeshadow/eyeliner and false eyelashes are very much in vogue again now, but sadly seem to have been taken to clown-like extremes in a lot of cases now - especially when you add ridiculous artificially plumped up lips! Sharon looks so much more natural, and I bet she looked just as beautiful without the make-up.

  2. Good post, always nice to see the late and lovely Sharon Tate. However, it won't be fifty years until next year as it happened in 1969. So, 49 this year. thanks for sharing!

    1. You're absolutely right. Think I got my years mixed up after researching a previous "49 years ago" post on the Moon landings. Will amend.
