What do I know?

"But Dad, it's awful!"

"I think it might do alright. It's very ... Eurovision."

So ran the conversation between Amusements Minor and myself in the run-up to yesterday's contest, discussing the UK's entry, Eins, Zwei, Drei by Look Mum, No Computer, aka Sam Battle.

One point from the judges.

No points from the public.

25th and stone cold last.

What do I know?

  1. I just played the song here and completely misunderstood for a moment, thinking (as I haven't paid any attention to the contest this year) that it actually was our Eurovision entry! What a disappointment!

    1. I think this would do better. Could hardly do worse! But then, what do I know?

  2. Martin.....reading all your posts over many years, it is clear that you know plenty! But we all get it slightly wrong on the odd occasion.

I take no interest at all in Eurovision, but it's impossible not to be aware when it's underway. When I saw the name of the singer/band representing the UK, I had a fair idea right away that it would be a difficult night. Had no idea of the name of the song until reading this.

Hardly a surprise really that zuletzt fertig geworden was the outcome.

    1. Cheers, JC. I think it's always going to be a difficult night from here on. What would it take for the UK to win? And should we even care?

    2. Remember when Morrissey was threatening to enter?

  3. I did a Eurovision quiz this weekend (even though I didn't watch the thing - while Sam and Louise had it on, I watched the Punisher). This was one of the tunes I unearthed... it's insanely catchy in the way Eurovision tunes used to be, and it's been an earworm in this house ever since...
