Every home should have one, part deux

Following on from yesterday's post, in which it quickly became apparent that distilling a shortlist of must-have albums is very difficult, here are some additions to yesterday's list of 30. Some are from the comments, some are from me. So basically this is every home should have one, part two:

  1. How do you make the sleeve-montages? I'm guessing you used Photoshop or something similar, which I don't have. I'm feeling the urge to chip in on this discussion, sleepless nights or no sleepless nights.

    1. Nothing so complicated. I download each cover from Amazon search results, then upload them individually here and tweak the sizes in the raw HTML.

I've just been watching the coverage of the Brexit vote, and even that hasn't been able to fully distract me from background thinking for part three...

    2. Still sounds pretty complicated to me......

    3. A bit long-winded, maybe. But it ensures the page as a whole resizes nicely, regardless of screen size. Important when so much traffic comes on mobile devices.

I wonder if The Party's Over by Talk Talk might make the third cut?!! In my top ten and underrated in my humble opinion.

    1. Good call on Talk Talk, mate. Toss up for me between The Party's Over and The Colour Of Spring. Will ponder for part trois!

And Standing On A Beach The Singles by The Cure would be in my list-you're quite right,it's nigh on impossible to whittle it down. I'm going back to Brexit coverage to depress myself....

    1. Yes. Absolutely yes. How could I have overlooked? Am considering, with part trois, to round this out to 52 albums, and then blogging about one of them per week for a year. But only considering it - setting myself up for a lot of work there, preaching about albums that most people already love... So we'll see.

    2. I like that idea for a series, Martin. It doesn't matter that they're albums people already love - your take on them is what matters, what they mean to you and why. Plus if I read about something I already love, I get excited by the rest of the love in the room, so to speak!

    3. It's still a lot of work though, C. I might just maintain a reference page...!
